  5. Welcome to version 3.0!

  7. NetPad is a handy notepad tool for Internet users, or anyone
  8. who spends a lot of time in front of a computer.  NetPad has
  9. the unique ability to mix your own notes and ideas with text
  10. and links you get from the Web.  Use it to jot down notes and
  11. ideas, keep track of your recipes, plan your next holiday, put
  12. together the lyrics for your next album, collect data for your
  13. research, or simply store your Web bookmarks.

  16. -- What's New In This Release? --
  17.  
  18. Additions in Version 3.0:
  19.  
  20. - Password encryption on ideas lets you assign a password that is used
  21. to encrypt selected ideas in a file.  Note that this feature is available
  22. only to registered users.
  23. - A new Search tab has been added to the idea list area.  This lets you
  24. locate ideas containing specified text.  You can look either for an exact
  25. character sequence or a "fuzzy" (approximate) match.
  26. - A number of additions have been made to the Options command.  You can now:
  27.    - Specify a default font for new ideas.
  28.    - Select which character set is used to display font.
  29.    - Select a non "Big 2" browser as the default.
  30. - NetPad can now accept "add-in" modules, such as the new Encryption.  This
  31. will allow us to add specialized functionality without modifying and
  32. bloating the main program.  We have a number of cool add-ins in development
  33. and welcome your suggestions.
  34. - Sundry bug fixes and fine tuning.

  43. of new versions of the package, registration unlocks the ability to
  44. create your own idea links and prevents the program from expiring.

  60. -- Installing NetPad -- 
  61.  
  62. NetPad is very simple to install (and uninstall).  The installation
  63. procedure depends upon whether you downloaded the zipped version
  64. (NetPad.zip, or something similar) or the self-extracting version
  65. (NetPadSE.exe, or similar).
  66.  
  67.   -->If you have NetPadSE.exe (or anything.exe): Just run the program.
  68.   It will unpack the required files and start the main installer.
  69.  
  70.   -->If you have NetPad.zip (or anything.zip): Use a zip-compatible
  71.   dearchiver to unpack the zip file into any convenient folder on your
  72.   system.  We recommend creating a new folder for this purpose so that
  73.   you can easily delete the installer files when you're done.  Once the
  74.   files are unzipped, just run the Setup.exe application.

  76. Regardless of which method you used to download NetPad, the rest of
  77. the installation is the same.  Once the installation is complete,
  78. you can delete all the files that you downloaded and/or unzipped.
  79. They are no longer required.  The installer creates a file called
  80. netpad_install_log.txt on your C: drive which lists the operations
  81. it performed.  If you do not experience any problems, this file
  82. can be safely deleted.

  106. -- Uninstalling NetPad --
  107.  
  108. To uninstall NetPad, simply double-click on the Uninstaller file in
  109. the NetPad folder.  This will remove all items installed by the
  110. initial installation and any other files in the NetPad folder.

  112. IMPORTANT!!!! If you want to keep any idea text created with NetPad
  113. before uninstalling, make a text file outside the NetPad folder.
  114. Everything in the NetPad folder will be deleted!!!
  115.  
  116. NOTE: For reasons we have not been able to determine yet, the NetPad
  117. uninstaller will not always remove the NetPad folder after all files
  118. have been deleted.  To complete uninstallation, just drag the NetPad
  119. folder to the Recycle Bin.  All other items have been deleted.

  124. Here are some things you should know about this release:

  126. License:  NetPad is being distributed at this time as "shareware",
  127. meaning you can use the package on your machine for a maximum of
  128. 90 days without paying the license fee.  Please read
  129. the license agreement in more detail below.

  137. Flying Objects Software Inc. grants free license to anyone to copy and
  138. distribute NetPad as long as:

  140. - no charge is made to the receiver beyond the minimal cost of delivery.
  141. (Distribution of NetPad with a large number of other shareware/freeware
  142. packages on CD or other media will be considered to meet this condition.)
  143. - this and all other documentation and notices provided with the package are
  144. included without modification.
  145. - no access code or registration information is included in the copy.

  147. Flying Objects Software Inc. retains all ownership and rights except
  148. as granted by this license.

  151. use NetPad free of charge for 90 days from date of receipt for
